Francis Ngannou has reached a definitive conclusion following the calls for him to appeal his split decision loss to Tyson Fury in their contentious showdown in Saudi Arabia.
The former UFC heavyweight champion stunned the world by knocking down Fury in the third round and taking the bout the full distance. Despite many believing that Ngannou had done enough to secure the win, the judges declared Fury the victor, leaving fans outraged and claiming he was ‘robbed.’
When asked by TMZ Sports whether he would challenge the decision, Ngannou replied, ‘Who am I gonna appeal to? [The British Boxing Commission]? I have no chance. I think that’s just another way of humiliation.’
Ngannou is now focused on a rematch with Fury and is optimistic that Oleksandr Usyk may step aside from an undisputed showdown with the ‘Gypsy King’ to make this fight happen.
‘The rematch is what I want next the most,’ he emphasized.
’Right now, I feel like I have numerous options, but I want to choose wisely, and I would prioritize the rematch.
‘My ideal scenario in boxing is to wait for Fury. If Usyk can step aside and let me face Fury, I’ll take on Fury, and then they can proceed with their plans. After that, I might return to the MMA world and come back to boxing with some new challenges.
‘I’m planning to potentially have two fights next year, starting in maybe February or March.’
